Beige Privacy Policy

This page explains what we do with your information when you use this website. “We”, “us” and “Beige” mean Todd Jefferies, trading as Beige, of 61 Bridge Street, Kington, HR5 3DJ, contactable at hello@getbeige.co.uk.

What we collect

If you enter your email address to join the early-access list, we collect that email address, the date you signed up, and, if you tell us, which tool you are interested in. That is all. We do not use tracking cookies.

If you buy one of our tools, the purchase is handled by our store provider, Payhip, and its payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. They collect the details needed to take payment and send your receipt. We receive your name, email and order details, but we never see or store your card details.

Why we collect it

We use your email address to email you when a tool you registered interest in is ready, and occasionally to ask what would make it useful. If you buy a tool, we use your email to deliver it and to provide support. We will not add you to a general mailing list or send you unrelated marketing.

Our lawful basis for the waitlist is your consent, which you give by entering your email and pressing the button. You can withdraw it at any time (see below). For purchases, our basis is performing our contract with you.

The free EPC checker

The EPC checker looks up what the public Energy Performance of Buildings Register holds for a property. When you enter a postcode, we pass it to that register, which is run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and show you what comes back. We do not store the postcode, the address you pick, or the result. Nothing about the lookup is written down at our end.

The email step is optional. The result appears on screen whether or not you give us an address, and there is a button on the page that says so. If you do give us an email address, we store that address, the band and expiry date we just found, the date you gave it, and whether you ticked the separate box about hearing from us on other Beige tools. We do not store the property address against your email. We use it to send you a copy of the result and to let you know if the rules change before the October 2030 deadline. If you ticked the extra box, we may also occasionally email you about Beige tools. Our lawful basis is your consent, given separately for each of those things.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of it. You can also email hello@getbeige.co.uk and we will remove you. We keep checker emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. Your waitlist email is held by our email provider, EmailOctopus, a UK company, which stores the list and sends the sign-up confirmation and, later, the one email telling you your tool is ready. Purchases are processed by Payhip and its payment processors, Stripe and PayPal. These providers process data on our behalf so the sign-up form, checkout and delivery work. Postcodes entered into the EPC checker are sent to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in order to perform the lookup, and are not stored by us.

Counting visits

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, it does not fingerprint your browser, and it cannot follow you to any other site. We get counts, not people. That is the whole reason there is no cookie banner on this site: there is nothing to ask you to agree to.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist emails until the product launches and we have contacted you, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. We keep order records for as long as we are legally required to, which for tax records is six years.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@getbeige.co.uk and we will action it, and confirm, within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
